Poe When Will Passive Skills Be Reset Again

Is it possible to reset the entire passive skill tree, if not, why not?

I am new to this game and i am 100% that i have picked something that i'll later regret just because i don't know about all the game mechanics or how the endgame will be. Why should it be necessary to make an entire new character to go for a new build?

Atleast make the reset-skill-tree function purchasable from the online shop?

Thoughs?

Don't get me wrong, i looooooooooooooooove this game so far but i don't think the tree is very friendly to new players.

No to all of your suggestions.

You can always try to farm Orb of Regrets or try and Trade enough so you can completely reset.

You can only reset one skill at a time with orbs of regret, or the occasional respec points from some quests. Orbs of regret aren't too hard to come by. You can also use the skill tree on this site to plan your build.

The mommy of all ARPGs, Diablo 2, did not allow for respecs until its last patch from 2011. Even then, you could only respec 3 times. To be honest, I think respecs are bad for this type of game. For something WoW-like, they're fine... because of bound items. In a game like that, you're supposed to play the same character for years, and you are supposed to do that because of all the bound items and linear gear progression. In PoE, if you mess up really bad, you can transfer all your items to a new character and reach where you were relatively fast. Level 30 in a day, easily.

Games were better when devs didn't listen to player feedback.

GGG decided not to allow full tree re-sets (sometimes called respecs) because they felt it would be better to give characters a sense of permenance and make us think carefully about our passive skill choices.

You can get Orbs of Regret, however, that allow you to undo one point on the tree. If you collect enough of them, you could undo the entire tree but it would take work. ;)

I get their thinking, but still sounds pretty harsh to new players. I didn't even know there was a orb that could reset the skills.

I think this is why GGG gave everyone 24 character slots- so we could make mistakes and then make new characters without penalty. :)

Also, I've been assuming that when the game is finished (ie, out of open beta) there may well be an in-game tutorial, or (more likely) a thread or downloadable manual that will explain the game features for new players.

This game was never designed to be easy and hold your hand through. If you unable to read and research this is probably not the best game for you. It is important to think ahead in this game, and that is why many of us like it.

The game does not adapt to you, you adapt to it.

The thing about full respec in PoE is that it makes no sense since half of your character is in items. If you reset passive tree, chances are you will end up with a very simillar spec or else you will not be able to use any of your items and gems. For full respec to work, you must have spare gear and leveled gems for the newly specialized charater to use and I don't see how new players can obtain those without playing in the first place.
Of course, if you already leveled few charters then you probably have stash full of spare crap, but by the time you have few high level chars, I don't think you need full respec option anymore.

I personally think hard shouldn't mean: You messed up so bad, start over again. Hard shouldn't be overcome by throwing playtime at it.

On the other hand I see the point that the player is not supposed to tailor his built to single bosses and get an advantage.

I think respec points could be a bit more common or it should be possible to respec root skills and also get all the points back that depend on them. It would be possible to make major chances without being able to tailor the whole character to a single boss.

Another solution could be a soft-core league.

It's only harsh because players these days expect games to be beatable by pressing down one button from start to finish without ever thinking. And PoE isn't that kind of game.
